What other ways are there to get positive energy and peace of mind?

I was in your situation some time ago….searching for answers…not sure why I was unhappy all the time. It is important to find out if you are seeking spiritual help or if you may be depressed. While seeking spirituality has been proven to help with depression and anxiety, there can be physiological things going on that shouldn’t be ignored. If you feel hopelessness, un-relenting sadness, low energy and self esteem, please see a health professional. Now if you are just searching for meaning in your life, well, then rejoice! You are on the first steps of finding your purpose in life. Bhudda had a lot to say about the world we live in and how we can exist in harmony with it, but I agree that finding out about Jesus will give you more to chew on. Jesus gave us wisdom for the hereafter, which is, I think, why we feel dissatisfied with our lives. We know there is something more out there don’t we? But who has the answers? Jesus Christ did, as did many of the other prophets and authors of the Testaments. And do not confuse Sprituality with Religion. You can have a faith in Christ that may not fit into any church doctrine and that is a good thing while you are seeking enlightenment. I would caution you regarding some of the alternative therapies that fall under the banner of the New Age Movement. Putting your faith in crystals, mantras and other occult teachings should not be undertaken lightly - Investigate the origins of this belief system (and any others out there) before participating in it. There is plenty that will make you feel good, but there is a darker side to it that many people do not recognise as bad for them.

Personally, I started out by reading everything I could about all of the worlds religions…perhaps a religious studies course will help you find out more about what you believe in and take comfort from.

Reiki is a Japanese healing art. involving the use of internal or spiritual mental energy called Ki. Ki is the spirit or life force in the body and in everything. It can be directed by the mind and intent. Every religion and every nation has these healing arts. From Tibeten Monks to Hawaiian Kahunas. It is likened to a mother carressing a sick child or rubbing ones own sore spot, it it natural to want to touch it. Reiki can be administered as massage; where the body is touched and massaged in certain places and pattrerns of strokes. It can be administered without touch holding the hands above the body a few inches, while concentrating on passing pure energy to the body through the hands. It can be administered at a distance; The person imagines the person in front of them and does the healing as if they were. Since the spirit of God in which we move is infinite and everywhere a prayer made anywhere is effected in anyother place instantly as if distance did not exist.(This has proven to be the case with all Telepathec type phenomena; time and distance seem to have no effect.)

Two things disturb me about Reiki: One from a Christian standpoint and the other from an ethical point.

Reiki at the higher levels uses: Symbols (secret symbols at that) these symbols are used in a magician like manner much like casting a spell, The person uses ancient Hindu sanskrit to draw or write these secret power symbols over the patients body and they attribute the power of these tibetan spiritual power words as doing the healing.
Now I know that from a Christian view words have great power. As Jesus is the “Word” of God made flesh and that word has been given ALL POWER in heaven and earth. So words carry power spiritually.
And also the soviet union has done extensive research into devices that are energized and operated solely by the focus of a persons eyes,
tracing a pattern that seems to build up a type of energy. Like a solar panel that is charged through mental energy or a fucused mental intent. (These are not publicly broadcast researches).
But the use of “SECRET” symbols. makes me leary; especially when they are so secret thay never tell you what they are doing to you. And the method which is so close to spell binding or casting a spell used in ancient pagan ritual. I don’t know.

The second problem is the power to do this is handed down only through a great sum of cold hard cash; You have to pay someone to put their hands on you and give you an “Attunement” which sounds like a counterfeit of the Baptism of the Holy Ghost; In Christianity.
You pay the fee they put their hands on you and some spiritual thing happens to you, and now you have the “Power” Then You have to Pay other large sums of money to raise in “Levels” I think to level three.
at which point you are a master and the second and third levels you recieve your special secret power symbols.

So even as a Chrisian who has recieved the Holy Ghost and seen and felt the power of Jesus Christ in person. I have also studied about psychic phenomena and understand as I said many religions and cultures have their faith healing methods; many of which work; because they follow certain universal rules. Still the whole big money secret tibetan magic symbols thing just creeps me out.

Imagine yourself appearing in a white energy orb at your crown chakra. When you have this image firmly in your mind, take a deep breath, and as you inhale see yourself in that energy orb traveling through all of your chakras, opening and activating them, as the orb descends beyond your root chakra into the earth.

This should happen quickly within the time that you inhale.

Now as you exhale imagine yourself in that orb, going back through your chakras, going up through the 7 levels of reality, to the highest level, where there is the power of divine creation. This level is filled with pure white light, and now your white energy orb should melt into this light. Then imagine yourself descending, and as you descend back down into your body, take a beam of this pure white, life force energy with you, as you inhale again.

Now when you exhale, focus on the person you want to send the distance healing to. When you have that person firmly in your mind, focus that beam of divine life force energy you retrieved from the highest level toward that person, and keep channeling it until you feel the healing is done.
