What is Reiki? Is it some type of spiritual thing?
My Answer:
Reiki is a Japanese healing art. involving the use of internal or spiritual mental energy called Ki. Ki is the spirit or life force in the body and in everything. It can be directed by the mind and intent. Every religion and every nation has these healing arts. From Tibeten Monks to Hawaiian Kahunas. It is likened to a mother carressing a sick child or rubbing ones own sore spot, it it natural to want to touch it. Reiki can be administered as massage; where the body is touched and massaged in certain places and pattrerns of strokes. It can be administered without touch holding the hands above the body a few inches, while concentrating on passing pure energy to the body through the hands. It can be administered at a distance; The person imagines the person in front of them and does the healing as if they were. Since the spirit of God in which we move is infinite and everywhere a prayer made anywhere is effected in anyother place instantly as if distance did not exist.(This has proven to be the case with all Telepathec type phenomena; time and distance seem to have no effect.)
Two things disturb me about Reiki: One from a Christian standpoint and the other from an ethical point.
Reiki at the higher levels uses: Symbols (secret symbols at that) these symbols are used in a magician like manner much like casting a spell, The person uses ancient Hindu sanskrit to draw or write these secret power symbols over the patients body and they attribute the power of these tibetan spiritual power words as doing the healing.
Now I know that from a Christian view words have great power. As Jesus is the “Word” of God made flesh and that word has been given ALL POWER in heaven and earth. So words carry power spiritually.
And also the soviet union has done extensive research into devices that are energized and operated solely by the focus of a persons eyes,
tracing a pattern that seems to build up a type of energy. Like a solar panel that is charged through mental energy or a fucused mental intent. (These are not publicly broadcast researches).
But the use of “SECRET” symbols. makes me leary; especially when they are so secret thay never tell you what they are doing to you. And the method which is so close to spell binding or casting a spell used in ancient pagan ritual. I don’t know.
The second problem is the power to do this is handed down only through a great sum of cold hard cash; You have to pay someone to put their hands on you and give you an “Attunement” which sounds like a counterfeit of the Baptism of the Holy Ghost; In Christianity.
You pay the fee they put their hands on you and some spiritual thing happens to you, and now you have the “Power” Then You have to Pay other large sums of money to raise in “Levels” I think to level three.
at which point you are a master and the second and third levels you recieve your special secret power symbols.
So even as a Chrisian who has recieved the Holy Ghost and seen and felt the power of Jesus Christ in person. I have also studied about psychic phenomena and understand as I said many religions and cultures have their faith healing methods; many of which work; because they follow certain universal rules. Still the whole big money secret tibetan magic symbols thing just creeps me out.
